Creepypasta: Patient Zero
June 2nd 2014
This is the log of Dr. Stein on Patient Zero in regards to our latest attempts to force cognitive prescience in Project Future Sight. The aim of this project is to determine if we can take a more or less ordinary Homosapien and imbue them with powers of precognition, mind reading, and astral projection. The subject has been selected randomly from a mental ward for deniability purposes, in the event we have to terminate them.
Patient Zero is a 22-year old Arabic male with good English so communication and cross-cultural issues should be easily minimized, especially seeing as his schizophrenia has left him confused as to his current state. No known violent or self-harming tendecies, although he has been placed on a 24-hour suicide watch as a precautionary measure.
June 5th 2014
After several days of inactivity Patient Zero did something noteworthy a few minutes ago at 23:19 hours, military time. He took one of the pieces of paper and one of the jab-proof pens provided in case automatic writing took place and began using them for this purpose. When he regained consciousness he had written “AT THE TURNING OF THE CLOCK, MY KEEPERS FALL” on the sheet of paper. Cryptoanlysts are referring to our written historical and mythological databases in an effort to decipher the phrase.

The events of early this morning were…unsettling. At 00:00 hours both of Patient Zero’s guards that had just rotated into their shift collapsed. The cause of death appears to be massive inoperable blood clotting in the brain. They would have been dead before they hit the floor. Both guards were of fine health and with no previous family history of stroke.
Patient Zero also wrote another message for us. “THE FIRST PLAGUE IS UPON YOU”.
June 8th 2014
In retrospect I may have let myself be caught off-guard by this because of my assumption the “plague” would occur the day after the incident of prescience. Now it seems that the riddles come to pass at a completely random interval, without rhyme or reason.
As for the “plague”? I had the pleasant experience of reliving the First Plague of Egypt when the water in my paper cup turned to murky blood in the break room during lunch hour.

Patient Zero…godammit, will you stop writing? It’s all he does now, day and night, maybe three or four hours for eating and sleeping. Although stopping him or even terminating him would probably do very little to keep the predictions from coming to pass. At least this way we know what’s coming next.
I hope.

Sorry for the huge break between log entries. I’m alone in here. Everyone’s dead, we shouldn’t have ever thought of disturbing the Old Ones. Well, Patient Zero’s not dead, their little puppet that he is. Goddammit, I know it’s not his fault but I’m really starting to hate that guy. I had a dream last night where I-
Oh, right. The day before, Patient Zero wrote “EVERYONE DIES BUT YOU”. Apparently all these notes were intended for me to read, then? They were all directed at me? Because I haven’t been reading them all. What do the Old Ones want with me…
Our universe is their plaything. And they are growing bored with watching us struggle in vain. I haven’t been topside in weeks, maybe “EVERYONE DIES” meant everyone everywhere and me and Patient Zero are the only humans still alive. And I don’t need Patient Zero to predict that our time is limited.

Patient Zero is dead, although that’s not the most important thing I need to share. It’s what he wrote on his last note.
This last note is what scares me. Everything else I was numb to, but this is impossible to ignore. It would probably scare me a lot more if I fully believe it. To be perfectly honest I’m probably just in denial. He wrote it in his own blood after slitting his wrists, how I don’t know because all sharp implements were meticulously…sorry. Anyway. The last note has one sentence scrawled on it.

Forging Foundations
there is part of me that knows these walls
in the same ways I know
unrequited was the dream I used to tie my strings to,
unrequited was the hope I used to fill myself up,
unrequited is just a word I used to be friends with
because you've crooked your fingers
into the hooks of my jeans
and you've hooked my heart,
dangling, a stranger to safety
learning how to let someone lead--
there is a piece of me that fears these feelings
like I fear insects that sting, like I fear wildfires that rage,
like I fear porcelain dolls
with cracked faces and scarred chests
because so far in this life,
all the beautiful things I've ever held
have come to me brok

Flash Fic: Self-Confidence
You see a lot of things when you work at a hipster coffee shop. Artists, college students, business men, moms. The artists are funny because you can pick them out based on how either self-conscious or pretentious they are (yeah, the sticker on your laptop is totally cool, man). And you can tell the difference between artists and college students because the latter just look young and wide-eyed; plus they're always huddled together in groups (because going somewhere alone is terrifying at 18!).
When the vampire came in, holding a rose, I waited for his order just like anyone else. He actually asked me for blood sausage. I said, "That's not on

Dreaded Ruins
DREADED RUINS
As I walk, I see the dreaded ruins of my past. Forged of steel, remnants of reminiscence float in my bath.
They sing to me, like dead roses ready to be picked. They bring to me, my words to be constrict.
As I talk, I see the dreaded ruins of my past, barely able to keep up with me, hindering only those to be.
They bring to me, my dirt of derelict. Is only a matter of time, before my thoughts halt the destructive afflict.
As I walk, I see my loved ones' will, bent and distorted through my eyes; I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye.
