Name: Thrive

Nicknames: “Aron”, The Mouthpiece, Avatar, Alpenview’s Head of Tourism (the last nickname is courtesy of none other than Alpenview’s very own King of Worms)

Race: Unique (formerly Human, although little to nothing remains of Aron’s original humanity)

Age: Although Aron was only twenty-one in Human terms at the time of his transformation, Thrive is essentially ageless, or rather, timeless

Rank: N/A. Although Thrive is a resident of Alpenview, or is Alpenview itself depending on how one looks at it, which means he is quite used to dealing with Daemons and the like, Thrive is very much its own autonomous entity in relation to Satan’s campaigns for Earth.

Brief Description: Aron was originally a mundane Human hailing from an obscure East Coast city called Blacksburg (which was quite crime-ridden, in an odd case of real-life foreshadowing). Due to the whims of the city itself he arrived in one of the Alpenviews, to be specific the one which Jake and his cohorts call their own, and Alpenview placed him through several nigh-impossible scenarios which served the dual purpose of testing him and acclimating him to his new environment.

Although he initially had no control over it, at this point “Aron” is capable of crossing from any Alpenview to any other Alpenview, although as the city incarnate he is incapable of leaving the city limits.

Thrive is not quite omniscient since he cannot read the minds of those within Alpenview, even their surface thoughts, Thrive still knows the city’s past, its true nature, the name of every resident and their respective life stories (provided they took place in Alpenview), and where they are at any give moment including which specific Alpenview they occupy. The reason for his lack of ability in relation to knowing what an individual is thinking is because no city can know its residents that intimately. No city, not even Alpenview, can dictate what its residents do verbatim, nor what its residents choose to believe or disbelieve. Despite what Alpenview or its Mouthpiece thinks, it is not God.

Physical Appearance: Thrive has a muscular, humanoid appearance with textureless black skin blotched with purple forming patterns not unlike those found on some varieties of butterflies and spiders. Its head is missing any sort of ocular organs, and indeed Thrive rather navigates via its exhaustive familiarity with the layout of any given Alpenview. Thrive’s blood is a vile, toxic shade of bright green, although its skin is extraordinarily difficult to breach, even with substantial force or high-calibre rifle rounds.

Personality Traits: Thrive’s personality is a melting pot of all Alpenview’s residents. Since the city is overall full of so many broken and sinister people, this is reflected perfectly in Thrive. It is prone to a brooding disposition at most times, and although it will often choose a non-violent option when dealing with an individual critical to Alpenview as a whole, it is easily irked and prone to lunatic rage. Its tendency to eat those it chooses to kill is a literal representation of Alpenview’s policy of “recycling” those who are troublemakers to the city.

The Mouthpiece has a noticeably dark and often sadistic sense of humour. This is probably Aron’s way of trying to form a coping mechanism to deal with his new station.

Although Thrive is far from friendly, it has been known to help others on occasion as well as hinder. Basically it will aid anyone who it senses will incite death and chaos, whether intentionally or otherwise, since this is what nourishes Alpenview as an entity.

Friends and Family: N/A. Alpenview’s Avatar considers itself to have a certain cosiness with all its residents, but this is far from true in reality.

Weapons: Asides from its razored fang and claw, Thrive is also capable of bringing back any prior incident that happened to someone and using this to harm them either mentally or physically or both, not unlike as if their life were on a VHS tape and a specific scene was rewound and played back. For instance, Thrive could incapacitate someone by replaying a traumatic incident, or even injure/slay someone by replaying a serious injury or illness or the like. The only caveat is that the incident must have occurred within Alpenview.

The Crash
He was dying. There was no doubt now. Aron’s eyes remained fixed on the long trail of crimson across the white tiled floor. It started from around the corner he’d dragged himself from to where he sat now, leaning against the brick wall panting with exhaustion.
He still found it hard to believe that only a day ago he had been sitting in the driver seat of his cross-country jeep. Enjoying life like it would never end. His only worries had been repaying his collage loans, and what gifts he would mail his parents back home for Christmas. He knew now that his loans didn’t matter a rat’s crap and his parents would be receiving news about him rather than gifts from him. He knew the news would probably kill ‘em. No parent should ever have to learn th
Welcome to Alpenview Part 2    Selene wasn’t kidding when she said it would be in a few moments. It was less than five minutes later when the first signs of civilization appeared. A big sized sign came into view. On it read, “You are now entering Alp-” and that was all he could make out of it. Most of the sign was black and decaying. He could only guess as to what the rest of the word was. Appalachian maybe? Hell if he knew. The only thing he did know for sure was that this was not the town he wanted to be going to.
Buildings, houses, streetlamps appeared as they neared the city. From what Aron could tell, this city was about medium sized. Not too small where everyone know everyone but not big enough to be compared to something like New York or Charleston.
The crackling of radio static brought his attention back to the driver seat. Ajax had the mouthpiece in his hand, “This is Ajax and Selene. We’ve just entered the city. Whe
Welcome to Alpenview Part 3    He was in a deep dreamless sleep. His body was that of stone and his mind was silent. It was a sleep that closely resembled the dead. Hours flew by without Aron’s knowing before the first signs of life began to stir within him. His fingers twitched, then his toes, then his head. His eyelids slowly fluttered open and shut before finally remaining open. Aron had returned to the waking world. He took in a deep thankful breath as he saw the white plaster ceiling above him. He remembered everything that had happened to him and knew that he’d been lucky.
He slowly sat up in the bed, surprised to find himself well rested but still attached to the IV bag. He gazed out the window beside him. The room was dark and the night sky glistened with stars above the city. He took in another long breath closing his eyes as he drank in the cool air before finally opening them, “Screw you nurse and screw
Welcome to Alpenview Part 4The Dead Thrive
Everything was surreal for Aron as he walked down the sidewalk. One moment he’d been in the woods with the old man in the middle of the afternoon, the next he was here in the dead of night at the city’s center. How? How was that possible? What had brought him here? Why was here?
He kept his kept his eyes down as he walked. He didn’t know what else to do besides walk. There was nowhere for him to go. No one to help him. He was like the old man had said. He was trapped. Yet he wasn’t from here. How was it that he, an outsider, a non-native of Alpenview had come to be here in the first place? The old man and well as the story he’d read told him that no one could ever find or leave this place. Yet somehow, he had. And he hadn’t even been looking for it to begin with.
